The Foothills of GA SHRM Chapter is an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), a national, professional organization.  Our mission is to serve the professional development and networking needs of human resource professionals and service providers at all levels in the profession by providing the most essential and comprehensive resources available.  We are a small chapter, however our combined background, certification, education, influence, knowledge and professional experience is concentrated.

It is our Mission & Purpose to foster and encourage a relationship with employers in the Northeast Georgia area and across the public and private sectors, exchanging information and listening to suggestions & ideas relating to the administrative, educational, technical, fundamental and best practice concepts of HR Management.

The Foothills of GA SHRM Chapter serves Human Resources Professionals in the Foothills Region of Northeast Georgia.  Our members represent a wide variety of industries, sectors and backgrounds, including construction, education, finance, government, health care, hospitality, insurance, law, manufacturing, non-profit, public-sector, technology, utilities and more!

Our members and guests enjoy learning and networking at monthly educational breakfast meetings ... getting involved in grassroots activities affecting the human resource field ... support business & technology programs at local high schools ... gaining access to training and preparatory resources for the PHR, SPHR and GPHR certification exams ... and developing contacts with top-notch human resource professionals in our region.

In October of 2001, several Human Resource professionals began meeting to discuss the formation an association of Human Resource professionals.  The idea was to network with other Human Resource professionals in Northeast Georgia to share information regarding health insurance, compensation, EAPs, recruitment, retention, wellness programs, Risk Management, Unemployment Compensation, Workers' Compensation and other topics.

In 2002, the officers of the newly formed association applied to become a chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management.  The application was accepted and the association became known as the SHRM-Foothills of Georgia Chapter.  Through our affiliation, membership, programs and activities, we continue to support and advance initiatives and training that are important to HR Management and Northeast Georgia.
